So it seems about half the journals I read I can't get into anymore...
They went private...
Ok I get the point of why your going private...
I'm not fond of the banners but why are you punishing me...
You go private and don't ad me to your reading list...
Some say they don't want anyone to see the banners...ok but I still have a journal and I see them anyway when I write on my aol journal...
Don't get me wrong I don't care for them at all but I'm not going to cut off my journal friends to prove a point.....
Maybe I';m being sensitive.... Just kind of ticks me off...
what do the rest of your think...that are still around

yes i think i would be upset too! keep smiling. Joanne
Everyone seems to be freaking out over this. Personally, I am not going to quit J-land because of it. You can block the banners from the bottom of the box where is says blocking pop-ups...select "block animated media from Aol.com" ...and for the most part you dont see the ads anymore.

They haven't added you because they're not posting. This was not an easy choice for many of us. I have been a member of AOL for over ten years. The ads were the final straw for many of us. I have broadband so I don't need AOL. I was just keeping it because of the journals. I --you-- are now paying for the exact same "service" that AIM members are getting for free. That is why I decided, finally, to give up my AOL account. I am tired of being taken from granted by AOL.
Most of us have moved our journals to blogspot. Patrick has a list going of our new addresses.
Candace
Candace is right. We didn't make our journals private to exclude anyone. We did it so AOL couldn't get hits off of it any more. Most of us have stopped posting in those journals and moved to Blogspot, but speaking for myself, I will still be checking in with those of you that chose to stay. Please come visit me.

I decided to return to AOL for just the reasons you stated. They are not going to ruin my journal experience (lol! what a silly description)! I hate that the whole community blew up and blew away overnight. So, I'm back.
Hey Donna!
I agree with you 100%.
This whole thing has totally turned me off.
How sad:*(

A lot of hoo ha about nowt.
Let them go, as lobng as you stay!
The journals that went private actually have NO readers now, they made them that way. They took everyone off the list of readers so that they could keep their journal, but have no one read it.
Hugs and love,
Lisa
I am respecting each person's decision whatever they do. I am reading AOL journals and Blogger journals.
For me, it was an issue of poor customer service. The banner thing would have been fine with me if they had approached it with more class and responded to our complaints.

I totally agree Donna....
To me personally the banners didn't
bother me ~ after u scroll down u can't see them anyways...
then you can also block them....It's sad that we are losing
touch with many good friends....because for one Blogspot don't have alerts...
and we are not aware of when they post anything...and unless you have alot of time on ur hands...it is hard to keep up with everyone like that....but everyone has their own opinions i suppose....The only way i believe i would leave AOL was for financial reasons if i had to...which i hope never happens...i would cry...lol
Hugss...~Terri~
